Welcome to the first episode of Business Like a Mother! I’m your host, Jen Morris, and in this opening episode, I’m sharing my passion for helping moms in business find their own way—without the pressure of perfection. As a mom of two, entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of Renegade Motherhood, I believe you can run a successful business while juggling the chaos of motherhood. But let’s be real—it's not easy, and it’s certainly not perfect.
This podcast is about embracing the messy moments, blowing up the traditional “mom or entrepreneurial” box, and celebrating who you are as you build your legacy. Whether you’re navigating the mental load, battling mom guilt, or just trying to show up authentically in your business, I’ve got you covered.
You can expect to hear actionable tips, real stories, and some tough love. This show is designed to help you grow a business that fits into your life, not the other way around. I’ll also introduce you to some amazing women who are building businesses, making money, and inspiring others. Plus, I’ll share how Renegade Motherhood has become a community that helps moms get out of isolation and step into their power.
This podcast is all about authenticity—sometimes it will be polished, and sometimes it will be a bit of a hot mess, but that's motherhood in a nutshell, right? We’re not striving for perfection, we’re striving for progress.

Why Are We Here?
So, why are we here? Why am I sitting in front of this mic today? Let’s be real—being a mom in business feels like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. It’s wild! You’re running a business and a household, and sometimes it feels like you’re just getting by on autopilot.
The Reality of Perfection
You know what? Perfection? It's overrated. I’ve spent so much of my life trying to make everything perfect, and spoiler alert: it’s not possible. I’ve struggled with perfectionism myself, and let me tell you, it was a long, hard journey to accept that it’s okay to just be real.
Embracing the Messiness
We’re all about embracing the mess here. Some days I’ll show up super polished, and other times… it might just be a hot mess in action. And that’s okay! I want you to know that this podcast is about being authentic, sharing strategies, and yeah, dropping a few swear words along the way!
Challenges Moms Face in Business
So let’s talk about the real stuff. As a mom in business, there’s that mental load—trying to juggle business tasks while remembering what’s for dinner. Then there’s guilt—work too much, you’re a bad mom. Work too little, you’re a bad business owner. And don’t get me started on society’s expectations. We’re told we have to do it all and do it perfectly, but, trust me, that’s not the reality.
Stepping Into Your Light
Here’s the deal: It’s time to step into your main character energy. You are the star of your own show, but so often, we shrink ourselves out of fear of judgment. But guess what? The world needs your voice. Your business needs you to show up as you are!
How Renegade Motherhood Came to Be
Renegade Motherhood started as a tiny idea—just a desire to have coffee with other moms in business. That one post, barely getting any likes, turned into something huge. We’re a community now, supporting each other, sharing wins, and helping one another navigate the challenges of being a mom and an entrepreneur.
If this episode resonates with you, make sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a mom who could use a little extra support and encouragement. We’re building something powerful together, and I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride!
